NEW FUNDING FOR DETROIT PROJECTS

Detroit has just announced that it has additional grant funding for environmental assessments in the City.   But we need to act quickly, because they need your application submitted by next Wednesday (October 5th).   Once approved, we have until June 2017 to complete the assessment for you at no cost.   If you are even thinking of a new project in the City that might start over the next eight months, ASTI Environmental will complete your application for review.

Lead Hazard Risk Assessments for Child Care Facilities

Before an original provisional license may be issued for a center located in a building constructed prior to 1978, the Child Care Center applicant must submit a lead hazard risk assessment report indicating that the proposed child-use space, including outdoor play areas, is safe. 

Centers licensed before December 7, 2006 located in a building constructed prior to 1978 have until January 2, 2017 to obtain a lead hazard risk assessment.

ASTI Announces Detroit Office

For ASTI Environmental the renaissance in Detroit started in 1985 with our first project in the city, or rather under the city, in the Crystal Mines. Soon we completed our first Brownfield project for the former Stroh Headquarters on the Detroit River at Jos Campau. After successfully completing over 1,500 projects in the City, we are now expanding on that heritage by opening an office in the other former Stroh Brewing Company Headquarters, now known as the Grand Park Centre building.

MiWATERS LAUNCHED

MiWATERS LAUNCHED

The Department of Environmental Quality’s (DEQ) Water Resources Division has launched MiWaters, a web-based permitting and compliance database focused on National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), storm water, groundwater discharge, aquatic nuisance control, Part 41 construction, and land and water interface permits. The database replaces over 25 outdated databases and includes 5 permitting programs. The program is meant to benefit regulated stakeholders by allowing them to manage their own accounts, submit applications and reports electronically, receive reminders regarding upcoming deadlines, and review past submissions and violations. Permit holders will receive letters in the mail with instructions to register.

CITY OF ALPENA SELECTS ASTI

Alpena, MI, January 5, 2016:  The City of Alpena selected ASTI Environmental to provide a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and a Pre-Demolition Asbestos / Hazardous Materials Survey of the 23,000 square foot, two-story Alpena Power Company building in downtown Alpena (208 N. First Street).  ASTIs Site Redevelopment Services team conducted the building inspection, oversaw QA/QC of lab results and prepared the report.  ASTI has completed similar scopes of work for Blight Elimination projects throughout the State of Michigan, including the Lenawee County Land Bank, the Muskegon County Land Bank/City of Muskegon Heights and the City of Inkster.
