Mussel Surveys

ASTI’s ecological team includes malacologists experienced in surveying and relocating federally listed mussel species. To date, our team has completed surveys at approximately 100 locations across 67 watercourses and waterbodies, identifying or relocating more than 25,000 individual mussels. We have performed these surveys in rivers, drains, and streams throughout Michigan in support of transportation, infrastructure, and restoration projects. Our methods comply with state and federal protocols to ensure accurate, defensible results and smooth coordination with regulatory agencies.
