EPA ASSESSMENT GRANT
FLINT, MI

ASTI Environmental was contracted by the City of Flint to manage and implement the $200,000 EPA Site Assessment Grant for Hazardous Substances and the $300,000 Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Site Assessment Grant.  ASTI assisted the City in securing an additional $59,000 in addition grant funds from the DEQ and an extension for the DEQ grant.

These grant funds supported 167 projects that leveraged private investment.  For example, a $14,000 site assessment grant to Witherbee Grocery leveraged $1.7 million dollars in private investment to rehabilitate a vacant building with an MBT Brownfield Tax credit of $256,720 and a Brownfield TIF of $1 million.

Through the site assessment grants ASTI Environmental provided the following services: Phase I ESAs, Phase II Investigations, asbestos and underground storage tank investigation, Baseline Environmental Assessments, and assistance with Brownfield redevelopment strategies
