ASTI provided hazardous materials/universal waste and asbestos consulting services to support development activities at eight single-family houses and two apartment buildings in Ann Arbor, MI. ASTI’s activities were completed in compliance with the requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs), Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), and the City of Ann Arbor.
ASTI personnel completed an asbestos-containing material (ACM) inspection, and hazardous materials and universal waste survey for each structure prior to demolition of the buildings. ASTI’s activities included a visual survey and documentation of hazardous materials and universal waste materials in each building to provide contractors with a list of items to be removed prior to demolition. Similar documentation was provided for ACMs by licensed Asbestos Inspectors in each building with the addition of sampling activities to identify specifically which building materials contained asbestos above 1% concentration.
ASTI provided a report for each property documenting both the ACMs and Hazardous Waste and Universal Wastes that would need to be removed prior to demolition activities.
