ASTI was retained to delineate all wetland, lake, and stream boundaries within multiple transportation corridors for MDOT. All work was to aid in determining potential wetland and stream impacts from road improvements. This work was based on MCL 324 Part 301 (Inland Lakes and Streams) and Part 303 (Wetland Protection), as well as appropriate Memoranda of Understanding between MDOT and EGLE. Project areas included over 70 miles of MDOT roadways:

  • I-69; Newark Road to Lapeer County Line
  • I-69; M-24 to Lake George Road, Lapeer County
  • I-69; M-19 to Taylor Road, St. Clair County
  • M-21; I-75 to Morrish Road, Genesee County
  • M-21; M-13 to Shiawassee Street, Shiawassee County
  • US-127; M-57 to Gratiot County Line, Gratiot County
  • M-15; Richfield Road to Dodge Road, Genesee County
  • M-53; Bowers Road to Deanville Road, Lapeer County
  • US-10; I-75 to Seven Mile Road; Bay County

ASTI identified, mapped, and assessed wetlands, lakes, and streams within the respective rights-of-way within the project areas using a survey-grade GPS. Electronic mapping information from ASTI’s GPS work was provided to MDOT for further planning uses as well as a report of findings. ASTI also completed a preliminary wetland assessment for all project areas prior to fieldwork.
