Since 2014, ASTI Environmental has supported the restoration of the former Oakwood Heights neighborhood in southwest Detroit. PEA Group led the site’s early visioning and master planning efforts, while ASTI focused on ecological restoration services. Today, ASTI continues to assist Marathon staff with ongoing habitat and restoration initiatives at Marathon Gardens.
To date ASTI has provided the following services:
• Ecological restoration planning assistance
• Tree, shrub, and forb species selection
• Invasive species management
• Wildlife observations and management planning
• Staff education (e.g., bird identification tours)
• Recordkeeping for Wildlife Habitat Council certification
The project has maintained Wildlife Habitat Council certification for several years and, as of 2026, has been re-certified.
