Since 2015, ASTI assisted Wayne County Airport Authority with the management of their large-scale wetland mitigation bank, known as Crosswinds Marsh, which was incorporated into the Wayne County park system.
In 2020, proposed expansion of the FedEx facility at Detroit Metro Airport prompted the need to utilize the remaining wetland mitigation banked credits at Crosswinds. ASTI conducted the wetland delineation activities and permitting for the project, which identified a need for wetland mitigation. Since no formal documentation of the remaining wetland credits existed, ASTI worked to provide evidence of the remaining credits and received approvals from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) to use some of the credits for mitigation for wetland impacts resulting from the FedEx expansion.
