ASTI provided radon testing services at Clinton Place Apartments & Townhomes to satisfy U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements. Clinton Place Apartments & Townhomes is located in Michigan’s EPA Radon Zone 3 and contains a seven-story multi-family apartment building, 11 townhome buildings and two apartment buildings. The foundation type varied between slab-on-grad and crawlspace. ASTI tested 100% of all ground contact units and 10% of the units on the upper floors and all common areas. In total 149 Air-Chek Foil Bag Test Kits were used to conduct the radon testing in 117 locations prior to renovation activities. Following the completion of renovation, ASTI retested using the same sampling protocol following HUD guidelines and American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists’ (AARST) MAMF-2017, Protocol for Conducting Radon and Radon Decay Product Measurements in Multifamily Buildings.
In addition to testing 100% of ground contact units,10% duplicates and 5% field blanks were collected for QA/QC. No further radon testing or consulting was required for this project, as all results were below the action level by EPA, HUD and AARST guidelines.
