This project involved the conversion of a former parochial school built in the 1930s to affordable senior housing. ASTI provided the environmental consulting services to assist with meeting environmental requirements by the Michigan State Housing and Development Authority (MSHDA) and the City of Detroit Housing and Revitalization Department (HRD).
To assist with the environmental challenges to address MSHDA and City of Detroit HRD requirements, ASTI completed the following scope of work:
- Completion of Phase I and Noise Assessment. Upon receipt of the MSHDA Conditional Go Memorandum, a Geophysical Investigation was completed which identified two underground storage tanks (USTSs) on the property, followed by a Limited Subsurface Investigation (Phase II ESA). During site renovation. activities, ASTI performed oversight and soil verification soil sampling during removal of the USTs
- Completion of a NESHAP ACM Inspection prior to closing activities and renovation. Following asbestos abatement on site, ASTI completed asbestos closeout reporting along with an asbestos operation & maintenance plan.
- Completion of Lead-Based Paint Inspection/Risk Assessment prior to closing and renovation activities. Following renovation and cleanup, ASTI performed clearance inspection of the buildings, lead closeout reporting and lead O&M Plan.
- Part 58 NEPA Environmental Assessment was completed as a requirement for federal funding and received a finding of no significant impact (FONSI).
- Radon Testing was completed.
