Alpine Senior Apartments is a new affordable housing development located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, designed to provide high-quality housing options for seniors in the community. The development will include 52 one- and two-bedroom units serving households earning between 30% and 70% of Area Median Income, with 10 project-based rental assistance vouchers provided through the Grand Rapids
Housing Commission.
The project is sponsored by Volker Development, Inc., Little River Development, LLC, and Equity First Community Development, LLC. With a total development cost of approximately $16 million, financing includes a 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credit award through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority along with a permanent loan from Merchants Capital. ASTI Environmental supported the project through asbestos-containing materials inspection, a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, a Limited Phase II Environmental Site Assessment, and a noise assessment.
This development supports broader efforts to expand access to safe, affordable housing while supporting inclusive community growth. The development is expected to generate 58 temporary construction jobs and 3 permanent positions upon completion, contributing to the local economy and long-term community vitality.
