Tom Wackerman, President and founder of ASTI Environmental is also the practice leader for our Brownfield Redevelopment Group. In addition, Mr. Wackerman is the Chairman of the University of Michigan/Urban Land Institute Real Estate Forum that has highlighted real estate best practices in Michigan since 1986. He has been instrumental in the technical and policy aspects of Brownfield Redevelopment and obtaining incentives for projects across the state, including the redevelopment of the 206 acre Steelcase Campus. Mr. Wackerman earned his degree from the University of Michigan. He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (Masters Level), Certified Environmental Trainer, and Licensed Real Estate Instructor.
Mr. Wackerman has conducted environmental programs ranging from incentives and grant management, to investigations of undeveloped properties, to evaluations of community exposure from industrial and hazardous waste emissions, to industrial compliance surveys, to exit strategies for property sellers. He has also provided expert testimony on many of these topics. In addition to providing consulting services, Mr. Wackerman has been an instructor and facility member for many years. His seminars range from appropriate assessments, to managing environmental risk, to compliance requirements. As a part-time faculty member at Wayne State University he has taught classes including environmental regulations, assessment, and contracts management.
