Most of ASTI's Directors have over 20 years professional experience. ASTI Directors are active in the development and review of Federal and State of Michigan standards for environmental assessment, and in training and education. ASTI's Directors participate in the definition of professional environmental practice.

ASTI is recognized as a Qualified Underground Storage Tank Consultant by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ). In addition, the MDEQ has recognized ASTI's geologists as Qualified Underground Storage Tank Professionals.

· Confined space entry per OSHA

· Respirator fit testing and training per OSHA

· HAZWOPER training per OSHA

· Spill response training per HMTA

In addition to their duties at ASTI, the following Service Group Directors provide valuable support to professional development.

-Mr. Peter Collins is a Certified Environmental Professional in the specialty of Environmental Assessment. He is an expert in Environmental Assessments and EISs for state and federal programs. He is a Professional Wetland Scientist. He is a member of the Michigan Aggregates Association and serves as Treasurer of the Michigan Wetland Forum.

-Mr. George Kandler is on the Michigan Association of Environmental Professionals Environmental Site Assessment Subcommittee. Mr. Kandler is also a member of the ASTM Committee E50 on Environmental Assessment.

-Mr. Thomas Wackerman is a board member of the Michigan Housing Council and the UM/ULI Real Estate Forum. He is also a part-time faculty member of the Chemical Engineering Department, Wayne State University, teaching graduate courses in environmental regulations and sampling. In addition, he is an instructor for Bureau of Land Management's biennial training program.
